All depends on your agility and awareness of opportunity. There’s some truth to it, sure. I did it. Now they call it “The Secret” and Oprah talks about it. Same shit. Tony Robbins sold it too. It’s got some truth to it but it’s 80% flim flam.

Make a far off goal, make as specific of a plan as you can, and then? Forget about it. Stick it in a drawer. You’ll make choices towards that goal and suddenly find yourself there. It works.

You can pray too. It’s all about being specific in what you want – as specific as you can be, “asking the Universe” as it were – and then putting it away.

Well, it’s the huckster ideology salesmen I’m criticizing more than anything. Stuff takes time. Is it God? Is it unconscious choices and awareness of opportunity? I dunno. I know that NOT stressing about it is key. Do all your stressing at the start and then: let go.

What you and I did right there  is potentially save people THOUSANDS of $$$.

We both read the same kinds of stuff and ‘got’ the same message and know it works.

But we’re not ripping people off or starting cults over it.

don’t know if related but my body responds well to protein. Don’t know how else to describe it. Source almost doesn’t matter but I gotta get enough each day or I start to feel loss within 2 days .Real quick

I did vegan for a girlfriend for 1/2 a yr back in ’90. It was doable but I was scarfing up whatever legal protein I could get. Wasn’t a big deal. Did the Atkins thing 3 times. All sorts of experiments.

Thing is for me, I’m an omnivore. I’ll eat whatever. Just so long as I keep it relatively balanced btwn carbs, protein, fat, with occasional salad, I don’t care.

I did a no white flour / no white sugar thing for a bit. I avoid sugar like a poison but I’ll eat it now occasionally. Try to do 100% whole wheat when possible: white flour makes a stomach bubble I don’t like.

Mostly, I try to stay as open as possible. When the opportunity to eat comes, I eat. If it’s something I gotta watch out for, like carb stuff, I avoid or reduce.

Certain fats are no good. Chips are stale oil but I discovered a kettle cooked chip that doesn’t give me a gut ache so I get it every couple of months.

====

Avocado is just slime to me. I’m weird about fats. Never was a fan of mayo. I’ll eat them (avocado or mayo) – I’m omnivore – but it’s not my fav.

I like protein. It’s my main.

====

I was thrilled when “fat” was FINALLY recognized as a taste, along with salt/sugar/etc.

I could always taste fat. It didn’t matter how it was hidden, I can taste it. I get a “yum” reflex to some fats, a “yuck” reflex to others.

Could I learn to like avocado? Yeah. It’s food. I like food.

====

Thai has its own set, yeah. I used to have a list. They work for balance in a particular way that we don’t do. Gives their food its own unique magic.
