Ah, ok, Nick Enfield seems to be Whorfian. I’m ok with some Whorf, and I believe our backgrounds do shape some of how we see reality – it’s in fact amazing that we are able to communicate at all – nevertheless, among humans of good will, clear communication is usually possible eventually, regardless of language hurdles. It is when we are in time constrained (real or artificial constraint) settings that we don’t function optimally and will resort to whatever cultural tropes are handy; and that’s when we get into trouble into the post-truth landscape.
