Unfortunately, he set aspects of linguistics back a long way by computerizing it. Fantastic in one aspect; Google knows when I farted last tuesday morning and what chemicals made up its smell when I ask because of Context-free grammar and computational linguistics.
But…
the human side of it gets lost as does the layerings of meaning and the different modes of productions (vocal, written, etc).
I mean, what’s NOT SAID is often if not usually more important than what is.
