Actually, Men are told “Do what’s right [for you]” but because men are the default, they can skip saying “for you”.
Virtue ethics do not play into this whatsoever.
Men are the already the identity group that-need-not-be-named.
General society is men-society.
Should men be called out and named now rather than be the default / general setting?
I think so because the general/default is NOT set for “all” otherwise it would be serving all.
I can show you there’s a default by showing that there are groups attempting to prevent mentioning of other groups.
“Why do we have to talk about race?” So if we don’t talk about race, then we are only talking about one race: the race of the people who said “Why do we have to talk about race?”
Apply it to other things. It holds.
Or complaining about “special interest groups”. Well, who isn’t a special interest group? The group whose special interest is busy complaining about “special interest groups”.
If the special interest groups stop complaining, who wins? Not everybody. Only the group who successfully silenced the OTHER special interest groups for themselves, who never had to call themselves a special interest group but were.
