able to be restrained by past inputs to the system to the point of forming an identity that persists

Well, that’s the interesting thing about it all to me:
There is no single Kenneth yet there also is.
Persistence of identity is both illusory yet also tangibly real.

As I’ve been going through evidence of my existence-so-far in as thorough of a manner as I can muster, there’s definitely a “me” that’s consistently present that expresses.

The “expression” is the “me” (behaviorist/external) from a social and self-reflexive standpoint (there’s not much difference to me between social and self-reflexive – there’s still an ‘out’ being viewed)… yet who is doing the viewing of the ‘out’?

An ‘In”.

I find that far more fascinating. Even if we are but a product of all of the external forces – even if you are to include all of the internal unconscious forces..

..when you keep regressing to a point of non-measurability…

..there’s a ‘something’ there.

What’s the nature of that something? I don’t rightly know.

But it’s there. Ever-changing, never-static yet thanks to hysteresis, able to be restrained by past inputs to the system to the point of forming an identity that persists. Elasticity not so much in the expanding but the ‘having a form to return TO’.

Never ceases to be a source of amazement to my self-reflexive [x].
