While I still hold humans at a level above animals for some strange reason, you do make a compelling argument.

Plus, here in the USA, here in the USA, we treat non-citizens in custody as forgotten and left to rot, youth in the prison/mental health system are detained, drugged and forgotten, Veterans are too often forgotten, their medical needs unaddressed despite great promises during enlistment… women’s rape kits sit in warehouses postponing justice and since police are NOT required to prevent crime, only respond, their attackers are revolved out and these women live in fear of a reprise (restraining orders are ineffective),
..plus some of my own interests such as forgotten kids being pushed through uncaring school systems turning them into adult who don’t give a shit either, blacks misdiagnosed with emotional disturbances and treated criminally instead of with proper mental health procedures as they do for white kids (school->prison pipeline) and the forgotten disabled people…
so with ALL that…the idea of quickly killing and promptly forgetting a human scumbag doesn’t seem so terrible.
I can’t say I’m 100% sold on your idea, yet by comparison, your solution seems rather tame and almost friendly.

I also like that you didn’t appeal to, “the financial burden”. I hate that argument.

Well, you make a very compelling argument. When I stick it on my own “what’s not right about how we do things in the USA” scale, a shot to the left temple and left to be forgotten (I’d probably go with an ” unmarked potters field burial” – put a bunch of lime in a hole, dump body in, more lime on top then dirt). – seems reasonable.
Now your “punishment worse than death” is one of the reasons why victims families don’t choose the punishment. But I can see the temptation for sure and they’re fun to think up.

In the end, I still stick with no death penalty. We can’t erase future crime by trying to blot out the existence of past crime and how we treat the worst of us is a reflection on how we treat each other. Cliche? Probably. But I believe it.
Is it possible for a society to entirely prevent people from popping up like this in their midst? Probably not yet it may be possible to notice problems early and make correctional measures. Such was the promise of public education but I can’t say I’m thrilled with it in any way and I tend towards variety over norms, just not chaotic.
So, I dunno. I don’t like how criminals are held up like inverted celebrities and like many celebrities have said, “Bad publicity, good publicity – it’s all publicity”. It’s led to teenage girls idolizing mass murders and stuff.
Maybe a shot in the head and left to rot is better overall. If nothing else, you got my wheels spinning.

Honestly? I don’t know. They’re separated from society, their every movement monitored and tracked and jotted down. All privacy stripped away. So, I don’t know. The same could be said for public school, so…
