A little controversy goes with stardom. People not into college football or any football suddenly are taking sides, although I suspect if you look around most of the sides people take is “Congratulations Kyler Murray” from folks who otherwise wouldn’t know a thing about it.
Heisman Trophy is a college football award for players East of the Mississippi:
“Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.”
What the news reports and apology do is:
a) propel his name into the public sphere (in a positive way by conflict and resolution)
b) Prevents those tweets from haunting him in the future as a sudden reveal during a signing could sour a deal.
I don’t see the comparison to Roseanne or Kevin Hart as valid.
